how do we lift our boat off the boat trailer without putting the boat in the water?

unless you are talking about an extremely large boat(way bigger than a normal trailer boat) 55 gallon drums work best. take 4 55 gallon drums and place scrap carpet or blankets etc. on each barrel. loosen all ropes/ties pull boat off of trailer(you can use truck or tractor just be careful) when you get about three feet off place two of the barrels on each side of the keel at the back. you can now lift the trailer tounge slightly and put some weight on the barrels(makes slideing trailer out eaiser) pull trailer out from under boat. place the remaining barrels under as soon as you can and keep moviing them forward until you get to the point where the boat comes off the trailer(barrels can't be too far forward as they do not support boat correctly) keep the center of gravity of the boat between barrel sets. when you go to load on trailer hook up winch and pull onto trailer when front barrels contact trailer push DOWN on tounge remove barrels. continue cranking(you might have to have pressure on tounge) until you contact the rear set of barrels. remove them and then winch the rest of the way. this is easy as the trailer ROLLS UNDER the boat instead of dragging the boat onto the trailer. I was a dealer for years did this with new and used boats(customers too) many of the boat manufactures use this method too if they do not have enough cradle's. worked for othr dealers who used same method. have done it from small runabouts to 38 foot cabin cruisers. slings are NOT safe as they break, the boat slides if the center of gravity shifts and you still have to set the boat on something!! if you want you can add extra barrels for more support. on smooth surfaces ie; cement.gravel etc. you may want to block the barrels to prevent them from moving. THIS METHOD GIVES PROPER SUPPORT TO THE HULL AND CAN BE STORED FOR PROLONGED TIMES as it supports the hull. most other methods do not!!!
