If your toilet flushes weakly, it might be best to take a quick look inside and check its date of manufacture. Take note that if it is made from January 1994 to 1997, this could pose as a problem due to the toilet's angled bowl rim. To solve this issue, you can clean rim using wood sticks or large sized toothpicks. However, you can similarly mix a part of muriatic acid and 10 parts water.

Then, pour this solution via a funnel through the toilet tank's overflow tube. Take extra precaution and avoid the fumes of the acid. Open a window or turn on a fan. As much as possible, do not allow the solution to splash on you.  Allow the acid to remain for at least thirty minutes to an hour. Then, proceed to flush the toilet. Expect to see improvements.
If you have problems with the way your toilet flushes sluggishly, this may be due to a partial clog. To solve this issue, do fill a five-gallon bucket with water. Then, dump this in the toilet as fast as you possibly can with very little splash. If the toilet flushes vigorously, the sluggishness may not be due to a clog. However, if the water backs up in the toilet bowl and slowly drains, it could be due to a clog.

All in all, toilet repair might be difficult especially if you have no idea of the problem's cause. You can avail the services of a professional to help you repair your toilet. Take note that toilet repair could cost a large sum of money. If in case you see cracks in your toilet, you might have to totally replace your toilet.

Where can I find parts for a kohler k 4540 toilet?

Im looking for a tank for our k 4540 since our last one cracked but I cannot find anywhere online. Can anyone help me?

I spoke to Kohler Plumbing (1-800-456-4537)and here is what I found:

The part number that you provided is from a discontinued one-piece toilet. Kohler 4540 is the lid # and the tank + bowl assembly is #3600. Contact Unity (603-465-9400) or Peterson Plumbing (406-682-7385) for parts.
