Window Blinds – Much Better than Curtains

Having Window blinds on your windows is the wonderful way to cover the windows. They are also referred as blinds. Generally, they are made of slats of cloth, wood or metal. These slats provide the facility to get the cloth, wood or metal to overlap. These are operated by rotating the fabric, wood or metal from an open position to the closed position.

Metal window blinds are of great use, they are used as the protection for the houses or offices, against burglary, extreme high or extreme low temperatures, fire and also from the bad weather outside. For automobiles, there are automobile blinds, which are used in the rear side windows of the car which protects the vehicle and the person sitting inside from the direct sunlight. These blinds in the windows get fitted with brackets and so very easy to install and remove.

Window blinds come in number of varieties in the market. The list includes Persian or the Slat blinds, the Venetian Blinds, the vertical blinds. These all varieties come in different varieties such as mini blinds, micro blinds, Holland blinds, pleated blinds and the honeycomb blinds. Among all the former varieties, the most popular is the Persian or the Slat blinds. Slat one consists of metallic or vinyl horizontal slat or strips of either the fabric, metal or wood. These slats are connected with the help of strings and which can be rotated up to 170 degrees. To allow or deny the entry of outside light to the room, they can be pulled up or down as needed. They have the horizontal strips.

In Venetian blinds, the horizontal strips or the slats overlap each other slightly. The slats in this type can together rotate up to 180 degrees. Also, these are hanged with the help of tapes or the cords. The slats of this type of blind is generally made of  plastic or metal and can be of wood sometimes.

Next is Vertical Blinds; installing and operating them is much easier than the horizontal one. These differ from the horizontal blinds in the way that these are more durable, able to withstand strong winds from outside and resist dirt to enter into the room. These features made it very useful and best to suit the places where the doors are kept open for most of the time either in the office or in home. Vertical ones are generally made of thick plastic.

Window blinds are generally used as a better alternative for the curtains. Window blinds are of almost same dimensions as of the windows, sometimes can be little wider and longer. There are some more types of window blinds other than which are mentioned above. They are track blinds, pleated shade and the roller blinds. Looking into the list of features of blinds, I believe blinds are much better option than the curtains for your home windows.
