Style and Comfort: Types of Fabrics Used in Men's Underwear

Choosing the right men's underwear ultimately comes down to one decision—how it feels. The types of fabrics used in men's underwear do vary, but usually cotton is the way to go.

Side Effects

Sadly, some types of fabrics used in men's underwear lead to unwanted side effects; rare as they may be, they do happen.  For some, these side effects are just the basics of the fabric itself, because, for example, rayon has a tendency to shrink. So, a side effect of rayon is potential shrinking, and shrinking is a very big issue for men and their underwear when it comes to their family jewels.

However, side effects can also mean reactions of the skin to the material. Sadly, you cannot and will not know how different types of fabrics used in men's underwear will affect you. Why? Well, take microfiber for instance. Microfiber is a new big seller because of how soft it is and inexpensive compared to other materials half as soft. However, the "micro" in microfiber means there are micro crevices that allow the material to breathe and stretch simultaneously—giving that soft feel—and because of such micro crevices, sweat can get in them. Sweat near the thighs chafing for hours upon hours, especially if going to the gym, may result in a rash, pimple-like flesh, itchy flesh, or all of the above if not something more serious. Here's the catch: microfiber might your favorite undershirt, which gives you no problems. That's the problem with types of fabrics used in men's underwear—the area around the family jewels is a whole different ecosystem, so one fabric fits all doesn't apply here.

Cotton

Rayon is a great material that is flexible and breathes quite well, but it shrinks. Microfiber is soft and not too expensive, but sensitive skin or over sweating can lead to problems. Wool can keep you warm, but it's wool—potentially very itchy. Cotton is the most popular among types of fabrics used in men's underwear because it breathes so well, mostly because it's a natural fiber. Wool and linen are also natural fibers, but can irritate the skin, especially skin as potentially sweaty, as potentially hairy, and as potentially sensitive as where the sun don't shine.

Better than Cotton

But there are other unnatural fibers that can breathe better, right? Of course, and if you're willing to pay an arm and a leg for them, they can be worth the money since your family jewels are worth it—spend a little, they deserve it. In theory, however. Getting the best labeled quality does not mean the best quality for you, and there's a rumor that it's all because it's new to you. The theory is that your skin is not used to such a different kind of fiber—the way it breathes, the way it stores up your excess sweat, or any other routine fibers carry out may be different. Different can be bad, and can irritate your flesh.

However, if you are simply lounging about in a temperate room, a room that's not too hot that leads to sweating or too cold that leads to overly dry skin, then expensive fibers can be great fun. Take silk, for example. Silk isn't known for its breathing capabilities, but who cares? Silk is very soft, and if all you're doing is watching TV eating some pizza, and you're not overly sweaty, spend away on varying types of fabrics used in men's underwear that sounds the softest, because, again, you're not sweating. Consider sweat as an extra factor. Pairs of underwear hate math, so adding another factor into the equation, such as sweat, will get your underwear pissed—pissed underwear leads to an unhappy situation where the sun don't shine. But there's no new factors to consider, then who cares about the equation and splurge on newer, softer, more modern fibers when it comes to types of fabrics used in men's briefs.

How do I expand the size of a tunic with a zipper in the back? It fits perfectly except for the bust.?

A beautiful tunic was shipped all the way from Pakistan & because of a sizing issue, it fits well, except for the bust area, where about an inch or two of fabric would be desirable. Is it at all possible to fix it? I don't care to have a zipper, if that's what it would take to expand it in the back.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
