What is a good equalizer/weight distributing saddle pad?

I have a wonderful trail horse, but he seems to get back pain by the middle to end of the riding season. The vet can't find anything specific and says there's nothing he can do. I've heard about special orthopedic-type saddle pads that have special foam that distributes the rider's weight better and can alleviate some problems for the horse from ill-fitting saddles. I remember seeing a video once where a lady put the foam over her hand and had a horse step on it without hurting her hand.

Does anyone know what company might make saddle pads like this?

A company called Supractor makes "honeycomb" saddle pads that work great. They are very cushioning and distribute weight well. I have used one and I really liked it. However, they are outrageously priced! ($150-400) You may be able to find a generic brand for a cheaper price.

So it just depends on what you are willing to spend. They make english and western styles.
