Chevrolet of Homewood hires John Stone, Packers fan recently fired for wearing team tie

I can understand a car salesman getting fired for wearing an offensive tie to work. If a guy walks in with a tie that has a giant middle finger on it, and the boss asks him to take it off, I don't think anybody would question the boss's decision to fire the employee when he refused. That makes perfect sense.

But when a guy wears a tie supporting his favorite NFL team after a huge victory – think Title-Game HUGE – you don't expect him to lose his job. Even if it's a Packers tie and he works in Chicago Bear country.

So when news spread around the country that John Stone lost his job at Webb Chevrolet in Oak Lawn over his tie… well, you can imagine that just didn't sit right with a lot of people. I mean, I'm a Bears fan myself. Always have been and always will be. And get this: my Dad is a huge Packers fan. Have I tried to disown my father because of his team loyalty? Amazingly enough, I have not.

Don't get me wrong. I joke with my Dad all the time about the Packers. As a Bears fan, I'm always hoping they do worse than my team, and I'll be the first in line to rub it in my Dad's face when they do.  But at the end of the day, our favorite sports teams aren't the central focus of our daily lives. They don't – and shouldn't – affect our day-to-day well-being.

It's refreshing to see that Chevrolet of Homewood, a dealer of Lansing, IL used cars, understands what's really important. They hired John Stone as a car salesman at their dealership almost immediately after news of his situation broke. Said Guy Cesario, General Manager at Chevy of Homewood, "I think, in the end, sports fans are sports fans. A person's job and livelihood should not be put in jeopardy for a choice of neckwear."

You see, at Chevy of Homewood they've decided that relevant factors for an employee's job should include professionalism and dedication to the team – not dedication to an NFL team. "I'm just very happy to be able to help out a local guy who lost his job over something kind of silly," said Cesario.

I don't think anyone can really argue with that one. It's great to know that Stone will be returning to an Illinois dealership selling Frankfort used cars so quickly. The guy's life doesn't have to be turned upside down because he happens to be a Packers fan. And Chevrolet of Homewood is making sure of it.

How Would I Tie Down My Car Hood?

I have a '96 Mustang that I am fixing up. It was involved in a car accident and the front frame was bent about an inch to two inches to the right. Right now, I don't have the money to take it to a body shop to get it fixed. So what could I use to attach the hood down so that it doesn't fly up while I'm driving it?

Well first off you shouldn't be driving a car with frame damage it is incredibly dangerous. If you were involved in a accident the structural integrity has been greatly reduced and you could be injured or killed.

If you don't care about that then take off the hood. You cant be 100% sure that hood is going to stay down.
